How Will A Bridge Benefit My Smile?

We have a number of options for addressing tooth loss, such as full or partial dentures. However, for minor cases of tooth loss we may recommend a dental bridge. The prosthetic can replace between one and three lost teeth in a row, restoring function and appearance. In what other ways will a bridge benefit your smile?

Frequently Asked Questions About the Benefits of Dental Bridges

Question: Can addressing tooth loss improve my oral health?

Answer: Yes! When you have a gap in your smile, adjacent teeth can drift and become misaligned. An uneven smile then increases the risk of tooth decay, gingivitis, and gum disease. Not to mention the fact that the pressure placed onto the jaw joints by uneven teeth or gaps in your smile can increase the likelihood of TMJ disorder and bruxism forming.

Question: Will the prosthetic look natural?

Answer: Yes! After we prepare the natural teeth on either side of the gap, we will take detailed impressions. The impressions are then used to create the prosthetic. A dental lab will incorporate lifelike materials to ensure your new teeth blend with your smile.

Question: Is the bridge easy to maintain?

Answer: Yes, you simply care for it as you would natural teeth, which means brushing them and flossing around them. You will also need to clean the space between the top of the gums and the bottom of the bridge as well.

Question: Can they be fixed in place with dental implants?

Answer: In some cases, we may use multiple dental implants to place a bridge, which offers greater security and helps ensure the prosthetic lasts much longer. If you have any questions or concerns about addressing tooth loss, then please contact our office today.
