Dental Implants Arlington Heights, IL

Arlington Heights dentists Dr. Brent Engelberg and Dr. Jennifer Mullarkey provide advanced treatment options for replacing missing teeth including dental implants for a permanent, secure and naturally functioning result. Dental implants can be used to replace a single missing tooth, a dental bridge or to secure a denture for the upper or lower arch of teeth.

What is a Dental Implant?

A dental implant is a bio-compatible titanium post designed to fuse to the jaw bone – replacing the root of a missing tooth. The implant is used to support a dental crown (for a single missing tooth), bridge (for several missing teeth) or a denture (to replace all missing teeth).

Benefits of Dental Implants

  • 98% success rate (highest rate compared to other dental procedures)
  • Prevents bone loss and gum recession
  • Promotes a healthier diet with fresh foods
  • Unlike bridgework requires no preparation to neighboring teeth
  • Improves speech
  • Improves comfort in denture wearing patients

About the Dental Implant Procedure

One to three visits are typically necessary to complete the dental implant procedure. During the first visit, Dr. Engelberg or Dr. Mullarkey will complete a comprehensive evaluation of your dental health to determine if you are a candidate for dental implants. You should be in overall good health and have enough healthy jaw bone to support the implanted post.

Your dentist will coordinate the surgical phase of the dental implant procedure with a local oral surgeon and follow up with your care to ensure a good result. The placement of the dental implant is a simple procedure performed in the oral surgeon’s office under local anesthesia. It typically takes three to six months for the implant to heal and fully integrate with the jawbone.

After the healing process is complete, Dr. Engelberg or Dr. Mullarkey will attach a custom dental crown, bridge or denture to permanently restore aesthetics and function to your smile. Your restoration will look and function the same as your natural teeth. You can brush and floss normally.

With routine dental care and good oral hygiene, you can expect your dental implant to last a lifetime and provide a secure and comfortable smile.
