What is CEREC?
CEREC stands for “Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics.” CEREC is a digital CAD/CAM digital imaging technology. Rather than taking messy impressions and sending them to a manufacturing lab, CEREC uses digital images of your mouth to plan, make, and place your dental restoration.
What to Expect
Our CEREC unit should replace the need for dental impressions by taking high-quality images of your mouth. The plan is then sent to a milling unit which makes the crown out of high-quality dental ceramic. Using Shadevision® technology, Drs. Engelberg and Oleari will custom color-match your crown for great esthetic results. Your dentist will place the crown for the best comfort and function. A ten-year NIH study demonstrated that CEREC crowns were as durable as traditionally manufactured crowns, so can anticipate years of comfort and use.
