ABOUT FULL MOUTH RECONSTRUCTION
Dr. Engelberg will combine cosmetic, restorative, and general dentistry skill, carefully analyzing each individual case to determine the best course of action. In addition to repairing and replacing teeth, periodontal therapy or even gum surgery may be recommended to ensure healthy support for your restored smile.
A full-mouth reconstruction is a life-changing experience for many patients at our office, enabling them to regain their quality of life and sense of self confidence. In many cases, this process can help patients to keep as many of their natural teeth as possible, avoiding the need for full dentures.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The process will begin with a consultation to evaluate your dental health and discuss your personal concerns and goals to be considered in treatment planning. The amount of treatments or procedures that will need to be incorporated into your treatment will depend on your unique dental problems and desired result.
The next step will be a diagnostic visit to take digital x-rays, scans and impressions to be used in your treatment. If periodontal disease is an issue, this may be addressed first to restore health and create a stable environment for dental restorations.
Dr. Engelberg will work with you to create a suitable treatment plan and schedule for any necessary procedures, which may include:
- Dental crowns
- Dental bonding
- Dental veneers
- Dental implants
- Dental bridges
- Gum lifting or periodontal treatments
- Short term orthodontics
When necessary, Dr. Engelberg will refer you to local specialists for procedures, including gum surgery and the surgical phase of dental implants.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How long does a full mouth restoration recovery last?
Full mouth restoration can take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months to recover from. The length of a patient’s recovery is dependent on the severity of the surgery and reconstruction. Many times, full mouth restoration involves multiple procedures over the course of months.
Is full mouth reconstruction painful?
You will be numbed or put under sedation before procedures begin, so patients will feel no pain throughout the process. Patients’ mouths will be extra sensitive post-procedure, but this typically goes away after a few days.
Do gums grow back after surgery?
After surgery, gums will not grow back. If gum tissue is removed during surgery it will not grow back. Many patients want their gums to be removed to show more of their teeth, so for these patients gum removal is a permanent fix.
