Facial fillers are a noninvasive, non-surgical treatment for fine lines of the face. Facial fillers are long-lasting, with many patients enjoying results up to one year post-treatment. After initial treatment, touch-ups often need less filler to maintain your results.

JUVEDERM

Your skin loses elasticity as you age, and lines around your nose and mouth appear. Facial wrinkles can detract from the aesthetics of your smile and lead to a more aged appearance. Juvederm offers treatment for “parentheses wrinkles” around your mouth.

Dr. Engelberg can use Juvederm to enhance the overall appearance of your natural smile with quick, easy treatment during dental care visits to our Chicago area dentist office.

JUVEDERM ULTRA

Our lips frame our teeth and can be a major factor in the appearance of our smiles. As we age lips can thin and detract from the overall aesthetics of your face. Juvederm Ultra can add fullness to your lips, making them appear naturally plump.

Juvederm Ultra is an injectable filler that lasts up to 1 year. This long-lasting filler provides natural-looking results and feel. After a year, patients can receive an additional treatment to rejuvenate their lips.

Fuller lips can bring out the beauty in your natural smile. AH Smiles offers Juvaderm Ultra in the convince of our Arlington Heights dentist office. Whether you are investing in porcelain veneers or just got your teeth cleaned, ask how Juvaderm Ultra can help improve your smile’s aesthetics.

VOLUMA

When cheeks flatten or sag, your face looks forlorn and agged. Voluma filler can add volume to your cheeks, lifting the appearance of your face without the risks of surgery. Voluma can last up to 2 full years.

For long-lasting results for fuller, more youthful cheeks, ask Dr. Engelberg about Voluma. Voluma and a beautiful smile can take years off your appearance and boost your confidence.

VOLBELLA

Smoking, sun exposure, and aging can increase the appearance of small vertical lines in the lips, making them look aged or puckered. Juvederm Volbella combines the natural fullness that Juvederm Ultra offers and adds the benefit of decreased vertical lip lines. Juvederm Volbella smooths, softens, and plumps lips for a youthful appearance.

Facial Fillers FAQs

How long do you have to stay upright after fillers?

Do not lay down or put pressure on your face for three to four hours after facial fillers. Avoid laying on your side with your face on a pillow. Staying upright will prevent fillers from migrating to different parts of the face.

What should you avoid after facial fillers?

Directly after you receive dermal fillers, you should avoid:

  • Laying on your face or cheek
  • Consuming alcohol
  • Sun exposure
  • Strenuous exercise
  • Swimming
  • Skincare products

You can risk bruising, inflammation, irritation, and filler migration if you are not careful after you receive fillers.

What medications and supplements should you avoid when you get fillers?

Before and directly after you receive facial fillers, avoid:

  • Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)
  • Fish oil
  • Garlic
  • Blood thinners
  • Vitamin E
  • St. John’s Wort

Some medications and supplements can lead to increased bruising and bleeding. Avoid these medications and supplements seven to ten days before fillers and directly after treatment.

Can you take Tylenol® before fillers?

Yes, taking Tylenol® one hour before receiving facial fillers is safe. This medication is not an NSAID. NSAIDs increase the risk of bleeding and bruising after you receive your fillers. This is because NSAIDs thin the blood.

Can fillers treat jowls?

Yes, dermal fillers can treat jowls. Jowls are sagging tissue or skin on the jawline. We can place fillers in the cheeks or along the jawline. This placement helps add volume to lift the jowls.

Who is a bad candidate for fillers?

Patients who are under 18, breastfeeding, pregnant, or allergic to bacterial proteins are not good candidates for fillers. We will review your allergies and current medications before treatment with dermal fillers.
