Is Pain-Free Dental Care Possible?

Does the thought of visiting the dentist fill you with anxiety? We can help. Our dentists and office staff understand that sometimes patients have a fear of the dentist for a variety of reasons. A negative past experience, fear of loud noises or dental tools, and anxiety about dental pain are some of the most common reasons for dental fear and anxiety. Our dental office provides multiple treatment methods to ensure pain-free dental care in our Arlington Heights, IL practice.

Pain-Free Care in Arlington Heights, IL

Our dental office is committed to helping patients feel as relaxed as possible during their treatments. We know that it can sometimes be difficult for some patients to make routine visits due to fear or anxiety. Whether a patient is worried about judgment over their oral health, has a fear of pain, or is scared of dental tools and noises.

We provide nitrous oxide, or “laughing gas,” as a dental sedation method to calm patients during more lengthy procedures. Under this dental sedation, patients will feel calm and happy, and content. Patients will also not feel any pain during care. We also use multiple dental tools to ensure patients are comfortable during their dental treatments. These tools include:

Topical Anesthesia

We place topical anesthesia on the treated area before a procedure. This form of anesthesia numbs the mouth and allows us to perform procedures without any pain for the patient.

DentalVibe®

The DentalVibe is a handheld tool that creates a vibration around the treated area of the mouth receiving anesthesia. This vibration allows patients to feel less pain from an injection, focusing their attention on movement instead of pain. Massaging the nerves or tissues around an injection site distracts the nervous system and allows patients to feel the tool’s vibration rather than an injection. Patients will typically feel the vibration and a slight pinch, although they will feel more of the vibration.

The Wand®

This type of anesthesia is also called a single tooth anesthesia system because we use it to numb individual teeth in the mouth. The Wand is a handheld system that also helps our team ensure patient comfort when they require injections. This technology also measures pressure when injecting anesthesia to ensure that we target smaller areas of the mouth. More general methods of delivering anesthetic often do not numb a specific area, while the Wand makes it much simpler for our team. The Wand also makes this process much more comfortable.
