Question: Does the chair side really brighten teeth in one hour?
Answer: Yes! To begin, we place a protective covering over your lips and gums. We then add the bleaching gel to the teeth. Once applied, we use a special light to activate the gel and to start removing discoloration. The entire process, start to finish, only takes about one to two hours.
Question: Can you provide a take-home system?
Answer: We can do that as well. If you prefer, we can send you home with a set of plastic trays and a bleaching gel. At home, you will fill the trays with gel and wear them for between 30 minutes and 45 minutes, depending on the dentist’s recommendations. You will do the same thing each day for between one week and ten days. At the end of your treatment, your teeth can be brightened by multiple shades. You can also keep any remaining gel and the trays for touch ups in the future.
Question: What if I have permanent discoloration?
Answer: In some cases, patients have intrinsic stains, also known as permanent discoloration. These stains don’t form on the surface of the teeth, but beneath the tooth enamel, making them difficult to remove. Fortunately, we can mask them with dental bonding, porcelain veneers, or a combination of the two.
